Apple TV – Get Netflix USA On Apple TV
This guide teaches you how to set-up your Apple TV device to access the USA version of Netflix from Australia.
This process is still working in 2016, despite the recent Netflix issues with VPN services.
It assumes you have an Express VPN account, so get one now if you don’t have one.
The best way to set-up the American version of Netflix on your Apple TV in Australia is to set your router to appear as if it’s in the USA. That way any device that connects to it (e.g Apple TV) will automatically have access to the US version of Netflix. We have a full guide on how to set your router up here.
You can also set-up your actual Apple TV device to access Netflix, rather than changing your router.
Get your DNS server IP address
To access Netflix USA on your Apple TV, you will need to obtain the MediaStreamer DNS server IP address.
After you have signed up for Express VPN , look for their welcome email you received:
Once you’ve clicked the link or logged in to the website, click on Set Up ExpressVPN on the Active Subscriptions page.
Open the section Apple TV. You will find the MediaStreamer DNS server IP address there.
Configure the Location settings on your Apple TV
On your Apple TV, open Settings.
Select iTunes Store.
Select Location.
Scroll down and select United States.
Go back to the main screen. The apps you want should now appear.
Configure the DNS servers on your Apple TV
Go into Settings > General.
Select Network.
Select Wi-Fi or Ethernet, depending on your Apple TV Internet setup. (Here we have chosen Ethernet. If you are using Wi-Fi, select Wi-Fi and enter your wireless network credentials).
Select Configure DNS.
Select Manual.
Note: We strongly recommend you write down your current DNS address/setting before changing it for future reference and safekeeping. You may need it if you ever want to stop using our service.
Enter the numbers of the MediaStreamer DNS server IP address, which you found earlier.
You MUST restart your Apple TV for the DNS change to take place. Go into Settings >General > Restart.
Congratulations! You now have access to the MediaStreamer service.
Note: MediaStreamer DNS is NOT a VPN. It does not offer the same privacy and security benefits as a VPN.
Register your IP address to access MediaStreamer with DNS
In order to use the MediaStreamer DNS servers, you must register your IP address with our system. Follow these steps to register your IP address.
First you need to connect a computer or mobile device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV.
Sign in to your account with your email address and password.
Go to the DNS Settings tab.
Under IP Address Registration, click the Register my IP address button.
Recommended but optional: Enable the Automatically register my IP address toggle so that you don’t have to manually register your IP again if it changes.
You should now be able to access your streaming content.

Playstation – Get Netflix USA on Playstation
This guide has been updated for accessing American Netflix on your Playstation in 2016.
Can you get Netflix on PS3? Yes. Can you get Netflix on PS4? Yes. Even better, this guide teaches you how to set-up your PlayStation to access the USA version of Netflix from Australia and unlock all that great American Netflix content.
The best way to set-up the American version of Netflix on your Playstation in Australia is to set your router to appear as if it’s in the USA. That way any device that connects to it (e.g a Playstation) will automatically have access to the US version of Netflix. Check out our guide on setting up your router to do this.
You can also set-up your actual device to access Netflix, rather than changing your router. Read on for our guide on setting up Netflix on PS3 and PS4.
- The first step is to sign up for an Express VPN account. This is the service that makes you appear as if you’re in the USA. It is essential to make this work, so do it (30 day refund so there’s nothing to lose).
1. You will need to create a new PSN account to use with Netflix. This needs to be an American account. Head to the Playstation USA site and create the new account.
2. Once you have the account created you will need to add a new user to your PlayStation– you can’t assign a new PSN login to an existing user on the Playstation, so create a new user. I named my user “Netflix” and sign in as that user whenever I want to watch Netflix.
3. Now set the Playstation to use the Express VPN DNS servers. Now when Playstation speaks to the Netflix servers you will appear as if you’re in America, tricking Netflix into giving you all that juicy USA content.
1. Select (Settings) > (Network Settings).
2. Select [Internet Connection Settings].
3. Select [Yes] when a confirmation screen is displayed stating that you will be disconnected from the Internet.
4. Select [Custom]. Leave all settings as is until you reach [DNS Settings].
5. Select [Manual] and fill the DNS server fields with the Express VPN values from their website.
7. Restart the PS3.6. Check connection to save the new settings.

Netflix On PS3

Netflix PS4
The PS4 can also access American Netflix in Australia. Just use the same set-up steps as above. There is an app for the PS4 too.
iPad – Get Netflix USA on iPad
This guide teaches you how to set-up your iPad to access the USA version of Netflix from Australia.
The best way to set-up the American version of Netflix on your iPad in Australia is to set your router to appear as if it’s in the USA. That way any device that connects to it (e.g an iPad) will automatically have access to the US version of Netflix. We have a full guide on how to set your router up here.

This guide assumes you have created an account with Express VPN
Make sure your iPad has the latest firmware installed. Otherwise, the configurations you are about to make may not work with the Express VPN service.
2. Upon signing-up with Express VPN, configure your iPad using specified Express VPN DNS setting. This will help trick Netflix into thinking you are currently within the U.S.
3. For proper connection, use only a Wi-Fi network because the service will not work when using 3G network. Additionally, in order to be able to download the Netflix app, you need to have a Canadian, US, UK, or any other country iTunes account that offers the Netflix app for download. You can create a US iTunes account very easily, the guide is on this site.
4. To change the DNS settings of your iPad, go to settings then touch on Wi-Fi. Touch the blue arrow pointing right on the network you want to use or connect with.
5. A new side-screen will appear. Stay on the DHCP tab and simply scroll down towards the DNS setting. Delete any numbers that are there and replace them with the Express VPN ones
To make the settings you made above work, you must do the following:
- Reboot the iPad.
- Using the web browser, go to http://www.expressvpn.com and login to your account.
- The Express VPN website will attempt to check your service status to see if everything is ready.
- If there are changes to your internet address, the dialog box will tell you. Click on the click here to activate your new internet address to enable the Express VPN service to identify who you are. Furthermore, the dialog box will also inform you of any unpaid invoice or account termination.
- These final steps will help to ensure that the Express VPN service will work on your device. If you do not do these final steps, you may not be able to access their service.
Android – Get Netflix USA on Android

Here’s what you need to change on your Android Device in order to access the USA Netflix content:
- Go to setting and click on Wi-Fi (click on the word Wi-Fi and not the ON/OFF slider).
- Press and hold the preferred wireless network (or currently active network). A dialog box will popup while holding the preferred network. Click on Modify network.
- Scroll over down the box and check the checkbox on Show advanced options.
- Click on IP settings and choose Static.
- Keep IP address, Gateway and Network prefix length the same (should be set from standard DHCP)
- Set the DNS 1 and DNS 2 server fields to the ExpressVPN ones.
- Click on Save.
- Restart your Android phone.
- To verify the configuration you made, go to ExpressVPN and visit the Check Service page.
